THE HOMETOWN HOLIDAYS PARADE is a Rock Falls, IL tradition that highlights local businesses, community organizations, and welcome Santa and his Reindeer (live!) to our town. Event date: November 23rd, at 1pm - the parade begins at the 300 block of 1st Ave (US Bank), heads south to 10th Street (McDonalds), turns right on 10th and right on 5th Ave ending behind Merrill School. Thousands line the streets to watch the festive floats, bands, and walkers parade through town. Young ones are fastinated by the whimiscal displays and take home candy, while adults enjoy the festive cheer of the unique sights and sounds. Represents the best in show. Uses an original idea, displays festive elements, has joyful walkers/riders, and is an entry Rock Falls would be proud to use as a representative of our city.
Uses an original idea. Can include hand made elements, or uses traditional holiday elements in a new way. This entry should stand out from the rest, being unique and creative in content and design.
Joyful Riders or Walkers This entry will feature people who are having a great time participating in the parade and are causing others to enjoy the parade. Costume can be a factor. Judges will look for happy faces and a kind hearted spirit from these participants.
Rock Falls Pride
- This entry will use elements that are Rock Falls Specific, or Patriotic
LINE UP INFORMATION (If you registered for the parade, but did not receive your line up information the letter you should have received is below. Please read it carefully. When you enter the parade line up area the parade directors can give you your pre-assigned number.)
PLEASE NOTE: LINE UP INSTRUCTIONS
TO LINE UP: PLEASE ENTER THE PARADE LINE UP FROM 5th Ave and head towards 3rd Street. Stop at the check point, where you will be assigned your line up location.
Line up location/order SUBJECT to change – take instruction from Sterling/Rock Falls Amateur Radio Group at Check Point upon arrival.

This year’s theme is Starry IMAGINE. There are prizes for parade entries and a panel of three judges. Winners will be listed online and announcements will be made to the media. The judges will award prizes for:
Chamber Chairman’s Trophy / Originality / Most Festive / Joyful Riders/or/Walkers / Rock Falls Pride (all awards as decided by the judges are final)
Please remember that candy is to be distributed by walkers. No alcohol is allowed on the parade route. All participants are expected to refrain from making negative or condemning statements to parade attendees or participants.
Enclosed is a line up number. Please post this on the driver side front window if you are in a vehicle. ONCE you have arrived to line up, follow the directions of the volunteers (Sterling/Rock Falls Armature Radio Group), even if for some reason they conflict with what we have sent you in this letter. They are very skilled and able to handle the spacing and timing requirements of a parade. You will notice that we have given you directions on how to enter to your line up location. Following these directions will save you TIME, ENERGY, and STRESS, so that you will not be stuck in the wrong flow of traffic.
